Across the Table
Portraits for this project are all shot from a perspective "across the table" from the person. It might be a romantic candlelit dinner, friends chatting at the local pub, a chess match, or possibly even a more confrontational setting. Explore these images and see if you can craft your own story about those wonderful people who have helped me create a narrative.

Mai
Mai was a model at Texas School. She is a former ballerina, and most importantly she doesn't smoke. We found these on the table and used them as a prop. All natural light.

Fallon (better know as "Falcoon")
Falcoon came for a visit and was kind enough to pose for a quick portrait as she leaned on one of the tables at the Tiki Hut. Light was a small LED light panel handheld, camera right.

Maritza
Maritza posed for this shot in downtown Ft Myers. We used sunlight for the rim light and a small LED constant hard light for the main light, located camera right and above.

Haley
Haley was our waitress in Oak Ridge before a presentation for PPETN. It wasn't very crowded and she posed at this table using only the window light for illumination.

Hayden
I was blessed to be able to photograph Hayden at Texas School. This was the last shot of the day, and he was willing to strike an aggressive pose, much different from his easy-going nature in real life. Main light was a single LED hard light camera right and mixed with the ambient light.

Mary
Mary always radiates that classic film noir radiance. This was shot in downtown Ft Myers. Natural light combined with one LED hard constant light, camera left

Rico
Rico was the night guard at the trade show at Texas School. He agreed to pose for a quick shot at one of the meeting tables. I dropped in the background from one of the Texas Honky Tonks that Texas School had taken us to for dinner. Two light setup: One constant LED behind Rico and above camera left; main light was an LED camera right and above.

Ace
In this instance, Ace was "across the divan."
Lighting was a three light setup. Gridded octabox camera right and above. Gridded reflector camera left and behind. Gridded reflector on the background.

Samson
Samson is the bartender at the Rising Tide bar on the Allure of the Seas. He was on a three month contract. He really enjoyed the ship but was looking forward to "vacationing" back home in Kenya at the end of his term.

"G"
G is a wonderful photographer as well as a great model in this shot. Grayson had the idea to use himself as a foreground element. I routinely steal; ideas from other photographers.

Grayson
We were at ImagingUSA and rather than going to the closing party, we decided to take some photos. I stole the idea for this shot from Jen Willis. I had seen her use the leading line of the bar in another group photo session.

Kailey and Lain
Kailey and Lain had driven all the way from Texas so Lain could compete in an Elvis impressionist competition. This was shot at the Bluetick Tavern in Maryville, TN using just the window light for lighting.

Matt
I met Matt at the Bluetick Tavern in Maryville, TN. We had a photo shoot upstairs later that week, and he was kind enough to pose for a few quick portraits. Light was window light from camera left.

Patty
We tried light painting for the first time. This is a composite of six images. In addition to the light painting on the stationary objects and the hair light, we used a flash to freeze her face in a 5 second exposure.
