Ledger of Shadows

This photo project features a different person holding, reading, writing in, or otherwise interacting with a weathered leather-bound journal/diary — as if it contains their deepest secrets, unsent letters, or innermost thoughts, and maybe hopes and dreams. The journal is the only constant visual element across the series, tying together otherwise diverse personalities and moods.

The monochrome, high-contrast, low-key film noir style creates a sense of mystery and drama. I hope that each image feels a bit like a still frame from a lost film noir movie.
